David H. Kaplan
David H. Kaplan grew up in Evanston, Illinois, as an outspoken atheist from a secular Jewish family. After World War II he studied aeronautical engineering and spent his career as a helicopter designer, pilot, and aviation writer, and served as the chief of research, development and marketing at Bell Helicopter. In 2008 he celebrated his thirty-year anniversary as a member of the St. Louis Ethical Society.
