Contest: How Would You Rewrite the Pledge of Allegiance?

Many humanists share Herb Silverman’s sentiment in his recent article for the Washington Post’s On Faith: ‘under God’ isn’t the only thing wrong with the Pledge of Allegiance. Some have a problem with pledging to a flag, others believe “justice for all” is really “justice for some.” But let’s say you had the opportunity to write a better Pledge, one that was inclusive, truthful, and good?

So it’s time for you to tell us: How would you rewrite the Pledge of Allegiance? Send your best entry to write@thehumanist.com or leave a comment below by 5:00pm on Wednesday, October 8. We’ll pick our favorite, and the winner will receive a free book from Humanist Press!
