MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR: Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Giving Tuesday

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It combines my three favorite things: family, food, and football! I hope you enjoy this year’s Thanksgiving Issue and consider using one of our “non-prayers” before the big meal or even making an AHA staffer’s favorite Thanksgiving dish from our collection of recipes!

I’m also looking forward to starting my holiday shopping on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday (I have seven siblings and six nieces and nephews—I need the deals!). But did you know about Giving Tuesday, a movement to encourage more Americans to donate to charity? The American Humanist Association is a proud member of a coalition of charities participating in Giving Tuesday this year, and we hope you’ll take part!

As you consider buying gifts for your loved ones this holiday season, consider a special gift to the American Humanist Association as we continue our important work on behalf of the non-religious community. After all, considering the inevitable church-state violations that happen during Christmas, we’ll need it to protect our public spaces from religious intrusion!
