Robert Louis Semes
Robert Louis Semes is a retired professor of history, philosophy and religion who taught in colleges and universities for almost twenty years, mainly in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is the author of numerous published historical articles and reviews and one book. Semes, after his B.A. degree in history from Belhaven College, received a Master of Arts in history from the University of Virginia, followed by two years of doctoral studies in history at Rutgers University. He then received a Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he also took graduate courses in biblical criticism and church history at neighboring Harvard University. Professor Semes was bi-vocational having spent some years also as an Episcopal priest. He has been an avowed secular humanist/atheist for twenty years and spends time writing book reviews for humanist publications. He lives with his husband in southern California.
