Results of the 2014 AHA Board of Directors Election

In accordance with its bylaws, the American Humanist Association conducted an election for six positions on the AHA Board of Directors. All AHA members in good standing received a ballot via e-mail through Votenet Solutions Inc., a third-party voting site. Voting was officially opened on August 20 and closed on September 29. A total of 1,294 members participated in this election.

Elected to four-year terms were: Jennifer Kalmanson, Howard Katz, Susan Sackett, Christine Shellska, Roberta Simpson, and Jason Torpy. They will begin serving their terms on January 1, 2015. Continuing to serve on the board are: Debbie Allen, Rob Boston, Rebecca Hale, Anthony Pinn, Herb Silverman, and Kristin Wintermute. Continuing to serve as ex-officio non-voting members of the board are John Hooper and Roy Speckhardt.

The AHA thanks the members of the Nominations Committee—chaired by Mel Lipman, and including Kim Ellington, Jennifer Lovejoy, Carol Wintermute, and Warren Wolf—for volunteering their time. The AHA also wishes to recognize Raul Martinez and Daniel Thomas Moran, who also stood for election.

Thank you to all who participated in this election, continuing the AHA’s tradition of being the largest democratic humanist organization in the United States.
