AHA Named
The American Humanist Association has recently been named an “Accredited Charity” by the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance by meeting all 20 rigorous Standards for Charity Accountability. According to their website, “The BBB Wise Giving Alliance helps donors make informed giving decisions and advances high standards of conduct among organizations that solicit contributions from the public.”
You can view the American Humanist Association’s BBB report here.
The website further states, “The BBB Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability were developed to assist donors in making sound giving decisions and to foster public confidence in charitable organizations. The standards seek to encourage fair and honest solicitation practices, to promote ethical conduct by charitable organizations and to advance support of philanthropy.” The 20 Standards for Charity Accountability are some of the most rigorous standards in the industry, and the AHA meets the basic standards regarding governance and oversight, effectiveness, finances, fund-raising and promotional materials. You can read more about the BBB’s 20 Standards for Charitable Accountability here.
The American Humanist Association has also joined the Combined Federal Campaign, a program allowing charitable organizations to solicit contributions from U.S. federal government employees. The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with more than 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally to help to raise millions of dollars each year.
All charitable organizations listed in the CFC have met strict eligibility requirements and must continue to meet these requirements on an annual basis. You can read more about the CFC here.
If you are a federal employee, you can now support the American Humanist Association through the CFC. The AHA’s Combined Federal Campaign number is 19492.
Please remember to check the box on your pledge card to include your name, mailing address, and email address with your donation, so that we can apply your CFC contributions toward your AHA membership.
The American Humanist Association is committed to meeting the highest standards of charitable accountability. In addition to being recognized by the Better Business Bureau and the Combined Federal Campaign, the AHA is also named one of the “Best in America” by the Independent Charities of America and a “Valued Partner” by GuideStar.
