Harry Potter and humanism

(Re: Humanist Network News Podcast: The HEADS Meeting , Jan. 27, 2010.)

Dear Editor,

I'm an avid listener of HNN, and I love the way your team brings compassion and creativity to the non-religious.

I'm writing to you because I have a suggestion. Since the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, I've been reviewing what it is I love so much about the series. I've come to the conclusion that of all the things I've read, the Harry Potter series has had the largest impact on my expansion as an atheist and humanist. My hope is that you could find an expert (possibly even Ms. Rowling herself) to explore the ways in which Harry Potter not only could be interpreted as humanist literature, but how these humanist ideas have permeated into the youth culture.

Please keep up the fantastic work!

Readers misses link

I love the fresh new look of the new site and the e-zine. AHA produces one of the few newsletters that I read from beginning to end each and every time I get it. However, since the change to the new format, it has been missing one important and useful thing-the link that allowed you to read all newsletter articles on one page. Since it's no longer there, I've become slightly less likely to view all of the content contained in the newsletter. Can we have this link back please?

(Editor's Note: We'd like to inform readers, if they haven't already discovered it themselves, that they can once again read all the current HNN articles on one page: click on "Read on One Page," the third link from the top in the grey sidebar on the right. Nick was not the only one who told us they missed this user friendly feature; we are glad that our trusty tech team was able to bring it back.)
