MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR: Atheists Who Love Christmas
I’ll admit it: I’m an atheist who loves Christmas. I love Christmas so much, I put my tree up before Thanksgiving—I just couldn’t help myself. I love it all—beautifully decorated trees, the joy of buying gifts for my loved ones, the excitement of receiving gifts, and, of course, another excuse to eat a lot of delicious food (in my family, we get holiday ham paired with Filipino lumpia). I feel better knowing that nearly all Christmas traditions have pagan roots anyway, and besides, I celebrate Hanukkah, HumanLight, and the Winter Solstice too. Maybe we humanists just like to party! Whatever you celebrate this December, enjoy it, be safe, and have fun with your family and friends.
