North Carolina Humanists to Throw Rapture After Party

Looking to attend a post-rapture party with your fellow humanists? If you live in the central North Carolina area, don’t miss this special event featuring American hip hop artist and atheist Greydon Square.

The Central North Carolina Atheists and Humanists, in partnership with the Humanists and Freethinkers of Cape Fear, will be holding an After Rapture Party for humanists, atheists, freethinkers and anyone who’s left on Earth after the “rapture.”

Greydon Square has established himself as a member of the skeptic community and a successful hip hop artist, earning accolades from Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Penn Jillette, and his lyrical mentor, Canibus.

As many of you may know, a series of billboards created by Harold Camping of Family Radio have been announcing the Day of Judgment—the time when Jesus Christ will return to Earth—on May 21, 2011. (Of course, he also predicted that the rapture would happen in 1994.)

Though the absurdity of this claim is obvious to the majority of the world, it’s a great opportunity for humanists, atheists and freethinkers to highlight some of the most bizarre beliefs often put forth by religious fundamentalists and raise awareness of the need for reason.

The Rapture After Party (RAP) will be held on May 21 at 6:00pm at the Rainbow Room in downtown Fayetteville, North Carolina. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of the show and include a free ticket to a special concert featuring Greydon Square on May 22 at the Rock Shop Music Hall. Space is limited, so sign up in advance.
