The Clergy Project Announced Collaboration With AHA

The Board of Directors of the Clergy Project recently announced that the organization will be working in collaboration with the Humanist Society, an adjunct of the American Humanist Association. Working together, our organizations will support Clergy Project members who are interested in becoming Humanist Celebrants. 

Humanist Celebrants offer their communities lifecycle events in a secular, non-theistic manner that stress the tenants and philosophies of humanism.

Our members are excited about the concept of transferring their skills in ministry to the positive, progressive philosophy of humanism with a focus on reason, ethics and justice. 

The Clergy Project is a private, invitation-only, online peer support community for active and former clergy who no longer hold supernatural beliefs. The project currently has 300 members and growing.  

Our members, who identify as humanist, atheist, agnostic and freethinker, use the forum to network and discuss the challenges of being an unbelieving leader in a religious community. The Clergy Project private site was launched in March 2011 with 52 founding members, and our public site clergyproject.org was created in October that same year. 

The Clergy Project is currently managed and operated by member volunteers. The Clergy Project’s public and private websites have both been made possible with the continued funding and technical support of the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science.

Members of the public can submit donations on behalf of the Clergy Project to the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science or the Freedom from Religion Foundation by visiting clergyproject.org and following the links under “How Can I Contribute.”
