Top Ten Sexiest Male Celebrity Atheists

In honor of Valentine’s Day (and just because we like to have a lot of fun here at Humanist Network News), we’ve come up with the list of the Top Ten Sexiest Male and Female Atheists! Enjoy!

Please note: This article is just for fun. We of course think the men listed below are sexy for both their looks and their brains.


#1: Brad Pitt

Actor and producer. Winner of a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for 12 Monkeys. He is also known for his work in Legends of the Fall, Interview with the Vampire and the “Ocean’s” trilogy, among other films.

In a 2007 interview with Parade, in a question where he was asked if he believed in a higher power, or if he was spirtual, he responded, “I’m probably 20 percent atheist and 80 percent agnostic. I don’t think anyone really knows. You’ll either find out or not when you get there, until then there’s no point thinking about it.”

 

#2: Johnny Depp 

Actor, producer, musician. Has won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards for best actor. Named sexiest man alive by People magazine in 2003 and 2009. 

In an interview with Larry King on October 16, 2011:

KING: Do you have faith?

DEPP: I have faith in my kids. Yeah, I have faith in my kids. And I have, I have faith, you know, as long as you keep moving forward, just keep walking forward things will be alright, I suppose, you know. Faith in terms of religion, I don’t, religion is not my specialty.

#3: Hugh Laurie 

Actor, comedian, writer, musician. Star of House, having received two Golden Globes and two Screen Actors Guild awards for his portrayal of Dr. Gregory House.

During an episode of “God Almighty” in response to the question “Who would you create first, woman or man?”

Laurie: “Oh, um. I see pitfalls either way. But see, the other problem I have, is that, being an atheist [audience laughs], is regards to this whole exercise is, it holds me back a bit. Unless I start to appear in people’s visions and tell them that ‘I don’t exist’ . . . think about that!”

#4: Daniel Radcliff 

Film and stage actor, best known for the title role in the Harry Potter films.

According to an interview with The Telegraph, Daniel stated: “I’m an atheist, but I’m very relaxed about it. I don’t preach my atheism, but I have a huge amount of respect for people like Richard Dawkins who do. Anything he does on television, I will watch.

#5: Keanu Reeves   

Film and theatre actor, best known for roles in The Matrix trilogy, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Speed and Point Break.

In 2005, Keanu stated to reporters, “I wasn’t raised in any special denominations and I haven’t taken on any so far. I used to have doubts (about heaven and hell) and now I doubt less.”

#6: Javier Bardem 

Spanish actor, winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film No Country for Old Men. He also won several other U.S. and European awards, including a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award.

In a 2008 issue of TIME Magazine, Javier said, “I always say, “I don’t believe in God, I believe in Al Pacino”–and that’s true. If I ever get a phone call saying “Would you like to work with Pacino?” I would go crazy.”

#7: Antonio Banderas   

Actor, director, producer and singer. Known for The Mask of Zorro, Interview with the Vampire, Desperado and Evita, among many other films.

In a 2006 interview with People Magazine, when asked about being religious, Banderas replied, “I have to recognize that I am agnostic. I don’t believe in any kind of fundamentalism. I prefer to take life in a different way, with a sense of humor. I try to teach my kids to be open. Whatever they believe is fine with me.”

#8: Wayne Coyne  

The lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the band The Flaming Lips.

In a 2006 interview with The Telegraph, Coyne stated, “I wish I did believe in God. It would be a great relief to think, ‘God’ll take care of it. God’ll put gas in the car tomorrow.’”

#9: Guy Pearce  

An Australian actor born in England, known for his roles in Memento, L.A. Confidential and The King’s Speech, among others.

In a 2008 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Pearce stated,” “I don’t believe in God, but the thing I do believe in is that we’re all connected. And I guess that’s what other people might call God. I don’t know enough about religion to really say, but on some level, doesn’t everyone just believe in a different version of the same thing?”

#10: Cillian Murphy  

Irish film and theatre actor. His roles have included the films Batman Begins, 28 Days Later and Inception. 

According to the Daily Record in 2007, Murphy was quoted as saying, “Sunshine is a film that highlights the fragility of the planet and how briefly we are on it, but how much we contribute to its future. It got me thinking about life and religion, science v. religion and all that. I was verging on being an agnostic and this film confirmed any of the atheistic beliefs I had.”
