Project 2025 Is Wild
As most are now thankfully aware, Project 2025 is a comprehensive and meticulously crafted 900+ page playbook published by the Heritage Foundation and endorsed by numerous Christian Nationalist political players. Project 2025 is THE far-right plan to reshape democracy, seize and consolidate executive powers, and completely upend separation of church and state, reproductive rights, LGBTQIA+ equality, racial justice, free speech, and many other democratic institutions and freedoms.
The plan promises to imperil the rule of law, attack reproductive rights, encourage discrimination against LGBTQ+ folks, expand cruel and inhumane Trump-era immigration policies, and more. Project 2025’s comprehensive plan will touch every department of the federal government and fundamentally reshape the lives of the American people.
…Wow. Project 2025 is truly wild. Here’s just a snippet of what Project 2025 contains:
WHAT DOES PROJECT 2025 SAY ABOUT…
Reproductive Rights:
- Utilizes the Comstock Act to enforce a backdoor, nationwide abortion ban. (Page 562)
- Asserts that abortion is not health care, and rips away funding from all abortion providers. (Page 450, 472)
- Bars pregnant adolescents, teenagers, and adults from traveling across state lines to obtain healthcare. This would lead to the intense scrutiny of all cis-presenting women traveling for any (Page 478)
Fact: Sexual and reproductive health are non-negotiable human rights—bans and restrictions cause immense harm and are severe invasions of privacy.
Separation of Religion and Government:
- Guards and prioritizes the ability of faith-based providers and institutions to freely discriminate and flout federal civil rights laws. (Page 352, numerous)
- Encourages and protects employers’ ability to “make employment decisions based on religion regardless of nondiscrimination laws.” (Page 586, numerous)
- Deliberately mandates the imposition of Judeo-Christian tenants in labor laws. (Page 589)
Fact: The separation of religion and government benefits all religious minorities, nontheists, secular people, and freethinkers, and even members of a majority religion.
LGBTQIA+ Rights:
- Claims that the only definition of a family is one made up of a married mother and father, and their children. (Page 451)
- Repeals LGBTQIA+ equity initiatives, including an initiative that specifically combats bullying of LGBTQIA+ individuals. (Page 451, 258)
- Targets the “toxic normalization of transgenderism” by deliberately encouraging discrimination of individuals, criminalizing gender-affirming care, banning individuals from military service, and more. (Page 104, 584, numerous)
Fact: The LGBTQIA+ community has been relentlessly subjected to attacks that threaten their lives, their loved ones, and their freedoms. Project 2025 will streamline this aggression and encourage discrimination endorsed by the federal government.
Environment:
- Proclaims “climate-change research should be disbanded.” (Page 676)
- Promises to reverse important investments in climate and sustainability, referred to as “climate fanaticism.” (Page 60)
- Brands scientific climate concern as the “climate change alarm industry” that is “harmful to future U.S. prosperity.” (Page 675)
Fact: Climate change is real, and it is a threat to our planet. We must encourage and make concrete investments in sustainability. Denial of its existence at this point is contrary to established scientific evidence, and frankly, obstructionist.
Other:
- Eliminates the Department of Education – seriously. (Page 319)
- Declares that “Pornography should be outlawed”. (Page 5)
- Rejects moves made to forgive and cancel student loans. (Page 354)
- Greenlights child labor, particularly in dangerous occupations. (Page 595)
