Philip Appleman
Philip Appleman was a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Indiana University-Bloomington. He published eight volumes of poetry, three novels, and half a dozen nonfiction books, including the widely used Norton Critical Edition of Darwin. His poetry and fiction won many awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship and the Humanist Arts Award of the American Humanist Association, and appeared in Harper’s, the Nation, the New York Times, and Yale Review.
