I would also recommend “Red Road” as another film about forgiveness and personal redemption, although it is from the opposite end of the stylistic spectrum from “Another Earth.” Red Road, written and directed by Andrea Arnold, is naturalistic, gritty, and powerful. I found it surprising and moving.
At last, a thorough explanation of this remarkable movie where there is more than first meets the eye. Several people tried to destroy the movie because they expected to see aliens coming out of a spaceship ! They had it all wrong. The movie tried to depict how far forgiveness could go and how a person can dream about a better world, for himself and the others, and put this hope in a prayer sent to the skies with the hope of receiving the revelation..
