Introducing the Humanist Organizer Resource Center: A New Hub for Local Leadership and Community Building

If you’re reading this, the new Humanist Organizer Resource Center is for you! After extensive collaboration with local leaders across the country, gathering their insights, feedback, and hard-won wisdom, I am excited to launch the Humanist Organizer Resource Center, designed to inspire and equip humanists to build meaningful communities.

This new hub aims to serve everyone in our movement: whether you lead an established chapter, recently joined one, or simply dream of creating a new or different humanist presence in your area. We’ve created what we hope will become your essential toolbox for organizing impactful, welcoming, and purpose-driven gatherings.

What You’ll Find Inside:

Program Toolkits – Our toolkits span everything from community service initiatives to casual social gatherings, designed to spark creativity while simplifying planning. These resources represent collective wisdom from dozens of successful humanist communities nationwide. Have you developed an effective program model? Share it with us to inspire others!

Grant Opportunities – The SWOA Grant (Secular Week Of Action) remains open for applications. Transform your innovative project ideas into reality with financial support from the AHA. Don’t delay your submission!

Getting Started & FAQ – New to organizing and event planning? This section provides clear pathways through the essentials of humanist community building. We’re developing additional resources including advanced leadership training and mentorship opportunities. Tell us what would most enhance your effectiveness as a local leader, and we’ll add it to the list.

Protest & Tabling Materials – Make humanism visible at rallies and community events with our updated supply options, including a specialized protest kit. At a recent April 5th Hands Off demonstration, humanist stickers were claimed by hundreds of participants – a strong testament to the hunger for our perspective in public spaces. As advocacy moments arise, these resources ensure you’re prepared to represent humanist values with confidence.

National Events Calendar – Connect with the broader humanist movement through our comprehensive calendar featuring events from the AHA and allied organizations, all centralized for easy access.

This is just the beginning.

Behind the scenes, we’re addressing practical challenges that local groups face: investigating event management platforms, optimizing social media strategies, securing affordable web hosting, and navigating insurance options. By solving these logistical hurdles, we free you up to focus on what truly matters:  creating compelling programs and advancing humanist advocacy in your community.

The Resource Center will evolve with your input. Your experiences, challenges, and successes shape this living project, ensuring it remains relevant and responsive to real-world organizing needs.

Please continue sharing your feedback and questions. This resource center embodies our commitment to collaborative movement building. Together, we’re laying the groundwork for humanism’s flourishing future in communities everywhere.
