Poll: Charles Darwin’s Atheist Letter—Who Got It?

A sought-after letter written by Charles Darwin in 1880 has resurfaced after being in the possession of a private owner for decades. In the letter, Darwin responds to a young man who asks him if he believed in the New Testament. Here’s Darwin’s reply:

Dear Sir,

I am sorry to have to inform you that I do not believe in the Bible as a divine revelation & therefore not in Jesus Christ as the son of God.

Yours faithfully
Ch. Darwin

Earlier this week, the letter was sold at a New York auction for nearly $200,000 to an unknown buyer. How do you feel about where the letter ended up? Do you think it belongs in a private collection or should the public be able to enjoy this precious item? We have thought of a few alternatives of our own.
